Chairman’s Message
Chairman’s Message 2026
The International Aviation Fire Protection Association (IAFPA) marked a significant milestone in 2025, celebrating 25 years of service to the global aviation community and its unwavering commitment to maintaining the highest standards of aviation fire protection and safety.
From 7–9 October 2025, IAFPA successfully co-hosted its 25th Anniversary event in Singapore with the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS), bringing together more than 100 delegates from 22 countries. This strong international participation highlighted the Association’s global reach and the shared commitment of aviation fire protection professionals to collaborate, exchange knowledge, and make continuous improvement.
The success of this landmark event was made possible through the dedication and professionalism of many individuals. IAFPA extends its sincere appreciation to Mr Tay Tiang Guan, Senior Advisor CAAS & SAA, John Trew, Gillies Crichton, Martinez Jacobs, Ajith Kumar, and Kim Olsen, whose support and contributions played a key role in delivering a highly successful anniversary event, as well as contributing to the past years’ events. Their commitment to Aviation Fire Protection exemplifies the values and spirit of IAFPA.
Behind the success of IAFPA lies a quiet team led by Bob Houchin and Zhong Min, our Association team of administrators and the finance accounts specialists. I owe this team my gratitude for their unstinting efforts. Besides this, the overall success of IAFPA is also due to the strong support from the Chief AES and his team of senior officers, as well as the staff of Changi Airport Group, Airservices Australia, Auckland Airport, Hawaii Airports, Malaysia Airports Berhad and IFALPA Asia Pacific. My gratitude is also to our industry partners whose support was vital in making this event possible.
As the Association reflects on its achievements over the past 25 years, it also looks ahead with confidence and purpose. The aviation industry continues to evolve, presenting new challenges and opportunities for fire protection professionals worldwide.
IAFPA remains committed to supporting its members through collaboration, professional development, and the promotion of best practices that enhance safety across the aviation sector.
As we enter 2026, the Association welcomes increased participation and support from its members and industry partners to help build on the momentum of this milestone year. Through shared expertise, active engagement, and collective leadership, IAFPA aims to make the coming year another successful chapter in its ongoing mission.
On behalf of IAFPA I thank our board members, individual members, industry partners, and supporters for their continued trust and commitment.
Together, we will continue to strengthen aviation fire protection standards and contribute to a safer global aviation industry.

Chairman, IAFPA
